From the Summary Section:
Female Anopheles mosquitoes are attracted by the carbon-dioxide produced by people situated inside an insect screen barrier which is electrified by a high voltage pulse generator. The electrical pulses are harmless to humans contacting the barrier but are lethal to mosquitoes that come into contact with the barrier. The effect over time, in a region with each household acting as a trap using human carbon-dioxide emissions to lure mosquitoes to be killed on the barrier, will be to reduce the Anopheles mosquito population thereby reducing the risk of malaria.

Thank you very much for your submission to the challenge my company posted on the Innocentive web site. I looked very carefully at your idea for electrocution via grid. I made the decision to go with another entry, although your submission was a strong application and would fit well into my company product lines. Frankly speaking, the entry I ended up choosing was so unique and came at this issue from a totally different approach; so I was forced to make some tough decisions and turned down some very promising technologies. The other reason I did not select your idea was due to the fact that your device, while interesting and probably effective, was much more complex then the submission I choose. Lastly, there are a number of zappers on the market and again, the device I did choose was way different then anything else I have ever encountered. I find it difficult to see so many good ideas and turn down good ones; I wish you the best in this area and others you might explore in the future....
