Case 1 of 1: Solar-powered AquaBoy® atmospheric water generators at Sweetings Cay, Bahamas
Location: ​​Sweetings Cay, Bahamas
Installation completion date: November 5, 2019
System specifications:
  • Type, model: Mechanical dehumidifier, AquaBoy® Pro II (2 machines, each rated at 5 US gallons/day)
  • 38 L/day (approximately)
  • Power requirements: 120 V
  • HEPA air filter
  • 7 stage filtration
  • UV treatment by 2 UV lamps
  • Chilled coil and water tank are stainless steel
  • Solar power array is 12 panels (1200 W total capacity approximately) dedicated to water-from-air production
Challenges met:
  • Supply of drinking water to community devastated by hurricane
Other interesting information:
  • This Hurricane Dorian relief project was a collaboration between AWS, Sea Shepherd, Ohm International, Alternative Power Supply, and Renewable Water and Energy Solutions
  • As of November 14, 2019, "...a permanent solution for fresh water is still being sought".
