I was reminded about water pseudo-science during a discussion today. If you are curious about terminology seen at some water-from-air system provider's websites---Pi Water, Alkaline Water, and so on, I recommend visiting Stephen Lower's website. He is a retired chemistry professor from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, Canada.

Water-from-Air Potential analyses for eighteen selected cities are now available for download in the Knowledge Products section of this website. These analyses are machine and method independent. The reports can be used to evaluate whether or not water-from-air systems are practical for use at a site. I've quantified the water-from-air potential at each site with a relative index. An index of 1.00 means a water-from-air system will perform at its specified water production rating (specified at standard conditions of 26.7 C air temperature and 60% relative humidity). El Paso, Texas has an annual index of 0.46 while Miami, Florida has an annual index of 1.04.

The Buy Scientific Instruments page takes you to a selection of psychrometers, airflow anemometers, pH testers, conductivity testers, total dissolved solids (TDS) testers, electrical measurement instruments, and sound level instruments. These are all similar to instruments I have used during my water-from-air research and development work. I hope you find these selections useful additions to your toolkit and lab bench! Buy Books about Water is an interesting addition to this site. Working in the field of water-from-air technologies research and development, I always find it astounding how many other scientific and engineering fields of knowledge I need to draw upon. Useful information resides in literature from water resources, water quality and treatment, water storage, water physics, water chemistry, psychrometrics and dehumidification, climatology, oceanography, solar energy, wind energy, and electronics. To make this site even more useful for you, I decided to make selected books available for purchase. Hope you like it and find a book that adds to your expertise! If you have suggestions for other water-from-air related books to feature, please let me know by commenting on this post. Thanks!

Water-from-air as a solution for livestock watering in NE Kenya 18/03/2011

Earlier this week, I received a phone call from a site visitor with connections to Kenya. He inquired whether water-from-air machines might be suitable for producing drinking water for livestock in drought-stricken NE Kenya. I had a general idea that the atmosphere in this region contains a lot of moisture, even during droughts, but wanted to quantify my response as much as possible. So I proceeded to use a mathematical model I've developed to quantify the amount of water a water-from-air machine with 40 Tons of refrigeration capacity* could produce each day in the drought region. In NE Kenya, about 2000-2500 L per day could be produced with fairly steady production through the year. Now my site visitor has to decide whether or not the capital and operating costs of water-from-air are competitive with the few remaining water source alternatives in the region. Interesting and exciting possibilities for helping people and their livestock manage a very serious drought situation...

Welcome and thank you to all my site visitors! I hope you are finding information about water-from-air technology that is useful to you. If you have any suggestions for site features, please let me know. I recently completed renovating my related site, www.waterplusfood.com, which occupied quite a bit of my time. With that done, I intend now to make the Atmoswater Research site even better.
